Proposal To Expose True Face Of "Mafia" That Governed Greece in 2009-2011

The Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) is planning to issue a proposal to set up two more preliminary inquiries on how Greece entered the Memorandum as well as the controversial case of the CDS -which is already being investigated by the financial prosecution (with a possible direct involvement of the Papandreou family). On Monday, a similar request was made to re-open the Siemens scandal case.

The first inquiry, which involves the events that led up to the first Memorandum is a sure go. As for the CDS scandal, well, whether "some" like it or not, the case will be cracked open and this is not only because it is under investigation by a pretty stubborn prosecutor but also because "some" might just be accused of trying to bury the case in an effort to protect the Papandreou family.

Both inquiries will involve the activities of former Prime Minister George Papandreou and ex-Finance Minister George Papakonstantinou and of course many high-ranking officials of the PASOK government. For the first time all these men/women will be questioned on why they characterized Greece as a "sinking Titanic", why they ignored a generous Russian loan before Greece entered the Memorandum and why they avoided the proposal for the National Railway Organization (OSE), etc.

How will PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos react over this initiative by SYRIZA? He might oppose the idea all together, and then again he may not. No one knows. And this is because the second Memorandum was signed after he took over the finance ministry in 2011. On the other hand, he could use these two cases as an opportunity to finally rid himself and the PASOK party of several "shady" politicians who still pretend to be socialists and who have set up a permanent home in the PASOK party.

Our guess is that when the inititiaves to start the inquiries are tabled in Parliament, most of the New Democracy party will vote in favor of this move even if the "technocrats" say no. And we believe this because the majority of the conservative MPs will get pressured to do so from their voters.

The Democratic Left Party is expected to also follow suit.

The smaller parties will probably also agree as well.

Indeed folks... the time to expose the true face of the "mafia" which governed us between 2009-2011 has finally arrived!
