Prime Minister Samaras Undergoes Successful Eye Surgery


Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on Saturday underwent surgery in his left eye and according to reports the premier is in stable condition. The newly elected prime minister was suffering from partial detachment of the retina and was rushed to a hospital on Friday where it was proposed that a surgery be conducted right away. The surgery was performed by a medical team headed by the director of the ophthalmology clinic at the Attikon teaching hospital in west Athens. Reports said that Samaras was experiencing discomfort in his eye over the last few days. On Saturday his doctors said the surgery was unavoidable.
