FYROM FM Says Athens Refusing Car Plates with MK Is Unacceptable

A couple of days ago here on hellasfrappe we featured a story about boarder control guards who were refusing to allow automobiles from FYROM to enter into the country because of the "MK" (meaning Macedonia) on their license plates. Those wishing to enter were required to cover the "MK" with a sticky sign that said "FYROM", and wouldn't you know it... this was not liked at all by the FYROManian government.

That is why on Monday FYROM's Minister of Foreign Affairs Nicola Poposki unexpectedly began to complain about it. He forgets that Greek border control guards are just implementing already agreed terms of the bilateral agreement between Skopje and Greece.

Poposki said this act was "unacceptable" and asked Greece to “focus on the cooperation sector and not on arbitrary and challenging actions such as putting stickers on automobile plates. What he omitted to say is that the act does not violate the international  framework between our two countries. Nonetheless, the Skopje government is making a "big deal about it" in FYROM and we suspect that this is being done on purpose so as to deter its citizens from spending their holidays in Greece.
