Goulandris Museum Aims To Approach "Surrealism"


The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation in Andros is organizing a visual arts tribute titled Approaching Surrealism to take place in summer 2012 (from Sunday, July 1 through to Sunday, September 30, 2012).

The event will comprise two sections:

In the first–the tribute’s core section–focus is on the historical character of the revolutionary art movement whose contributions shaped twentieth century sensibility. This section brings together works by as many as twenty artists and archival material documenting the lives of the movement’s founders as well as of those who would join later on.
The second section focuses on the literary and visual achievements of the Greek surrealists.

The event will be accompanied by a bilingual (Greek-English) catalogue.Schools and groups are welcome in the premises of the museum under arrangement. Opening hours: Saturday – Sunday – Monday 10:00 – 14:00
