Earthquakes Shake Up Island of Crete


Cretans got off to a bumpy start on Saturday morning following a series of mild earthquakes. The first earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale shook up residents in Mesara at 11:52 am. According to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center the epicenter of the quake was reported to be located in the sea area south of Crete, specifically 54 km southwest. Two minutes later a separate earthquake of 3.9 on the Richter scale occurred in the sea area south of Heraklion. The epicenter of the second quake was said to be located 21 km southwest and at a depth of 10 km
