Why is the world so shocked over the death of the 77 year old pharmacist in Syntagma Square? Why have media giants fled to Athens to cover the event? And why is the world suddenly realizing that living to save the banks, has repercussions on society?
Wasn't it all of you who said "we had it coming"?
Wasn't it all of you who said that because we were "partying" night and day in this country we had to become the "examples" of Europe and implement harsh austerity measures to prove our worth as a people?
Haven't you realized that thousands of people have committed suicide over the last few years because of your incompetence to really understand what they are trying to do here?
Because of your indifference and on account of your arrogance to listen... your fellow Hellene brothers and sisters are throwing themselves in the fire, eating out of rubbish bins, jumping off of bridges, placing a gun to their heads, giving up their children and living on the streets.
But of course its not you... so it really doesn't matter right?
My Hellene friends... when a bank makes gains it shares the profits between its shareholders, but when it records losses... then this becomes a public problem. In other words, we the citizens are forced to bail out our banks but when they make gains they only share between themselves. Haven't you ever asked yourselves why we automatically accept this as a society and have you further questioned that by accepting this it says a lot about the way we perceive things in general?
Face it... We like fluff, and are afraid of cracking eggs with the "system" because we are afraid of losing our plasma TV's, our leather couches, our weekends to Vegas, Santorini or Mykonos and we could not be bothered with the problems of others because we have to work hard to maintain all these things because they make us feel important, they make us feel safe... so let the neighbor's house burn down... who cares... just as long as its not mine!
This is the raw truth... I am sorry friends... but you are nothing more than an empty and hollow individual....
A person who lives to fatten the wallets of the corpotocracy...
A victim of the system
Perhaps in the future, when our children study us, as we our parents’ before us, they will marvel at our fallibility and indifference, and they will reflect on the disasters and injustices narrowly avoided and those sadly and painfully endured.
Pitiful....
We say we love... we say we know how to love, but how many of us today openly exhibit love and how many of us are willing to give of ourselves for the benefit of others around us? Most human relationships do not exhibit this kind of love. Love is a fluffy teddy bear, a dozen roses on Valentine's Day and a fake tear for a death of a man who is only one victim of millions...
This is because of your indifference, incompetence to feel and understand. You are damaged by the "get philosophy that has prevailed throughout history. We have been subject to these selfish pulls from the beginning of time. One example of this is in the Old Testament when Cain murdered his brother Abel because he lacked brotherly love and his heart was filled with jealousy because he wanted to "get" rather than "give".
We see the same breakdown in society. The family structure has been torn apart, violence and corruption are on the rise, labor unrest is abound, and famine as well as general unrest are dividing people and keeping them from uniting.
This has kept all of you from uniting with your Hellene brothers and sisters in Greece... because you just want to "get" rather than "give" and that is why you couldn't be bothered all this time.
Personally, all these conditions indicate a lack of love to me, a lack of filotimo a lack of Hellenic spirit.
You do not need to be a sociologist, psychologist or philosopher to recognize those who, in the shadows and back-streets of politics and business, lurk intoxicated and maligned by greed and paranoia and plot the downfall of us all. It does not take much to come to grips with the fact that these people, and the ideologies that they represent, are the ugly face of corruption and denialism of us all.
Yes they will go down the annuls of history as the true monsters of our time, and we will finger point... but why were we so accepting of them all this time?
Why didn't we pay more attention to all the warning signs?
Did someone have to die for us to finally listen?
Friends... those who put money and plasma TVs before reason and true brotherly love, are suffering from denial and are just as responsible for yesterday's death in Syntagma Square as those who profit off the backs of simple people and share it with their stockholders.
Get out of your comas... stop being hypocrites. Get informed better and brush up on the facts before you finger point at a nation of people who by far gave all of you everything you know of today!
Because if you don't you too will go down in the history books as defenders of the worst facets of human nature. And you will only be remembered as the bankrupt pawns of the most destructive, self-centred generation of organisms that this world has ever known.
