X-Files: Virtual Discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls

Everybody loves a good mystery. Think about it: Hidden documents, undiscovered for over 2,000 years and that have been suppressed by scholars for another forty years. Scrolls that date back to the time of Jesus and the early church. Certainly this would stir all of our curiosities and the Dead Sea Scrolls are just that… a great mystery! Today the X-Files will not be looking into this mystery (in an attempt to analyze it because it is too complex and too vast to analyze) but it will propose to its readers to go online and do their own homework, since the scrolls are now on virtual display! As of last Monday, and more than 2,000 years after they were written, these world-famous controversial and mystical scrolls are now online in a project that was launched by Israel's national museum with the help of Google.

You can just click on the link that we have given below and scan through five of the most important Dead Sea scrolls including the biblical Book of Isaiah, the manuscript known as the Temple Scroll as well as three others. Anyone interested in surfing through the information can look at high-resolution images of the scrolls for specific passages, as well as can zoom in and out, and even translate verses into English.

Obviously the originals are kept in a well secured vault in Jerusalem in a building that was constructed specifically to house them.

Hellasfrappe went online, and began reading some of the scrolls. Our feeling while reading some of these scrolls was complete and utter “awe”. We propose that you do the same.
