Officials of the Armed Forces, the Chiefs of Defence and the General Staff are on red alert ahead of the aeronautical exercises scheduled by its neighbours at the end of this month. Military circles have shown concern over the threats that Turkey has indirectly “thrown in the air” against Cyprus which is getting set to begin drilling for natural gas and oil.

According to various experts in an article that was featured on the anti-ntp.blogspot.com website today Ankara is trying to set the background and at the same time cerate a climate of provocation in the Aegean in view of the scheduled drilling.

In light to this, defence officials have briefed the Greek leadership about their concerns as well as the ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs.

Also, recent visits by defence chiefs to the 111 Combat Wing in New Anchialos, and the ADTE 95 area in (Rhodes), probably back this startling piece of news and also indicate that our forces are indeed on alert in case Turkey decides to materialize on its threats.
